Rachael's first day was heavily commemorated with photos, Elle.... well, I tried!!!

Like Rachael's first day, I had everything planned perfectly. I wanted pictures before school, on the way to school, outside the school, in her classroom, putting away her jacket, signing her name, with her teacher, with her classmantes, so on and so on... You get the picture, right? Well, I didn't get the picture(s).

As I parked the car, prepared to walk my little peanut into her first big day of school, Elle, in her very typically sassy way, "Mom, what are you doing?" I explained that I had planned to walk her into the school and make sure she was prepared. I didn't mention the pictures, I figured that might be way too "uncool". Elle then explained to me that she did not need her Mom to walk her into the building, that she would be fine walking in with her big sister and her cousins.

So, I sat in the car and watched all of the other little "K's" walk in with their parents, meanwhile, my little "K" skipped away with her Cheetah Girls backpack bouncing against her bottom.

Happiness is a Warm Gun

This picture is worth more than a thousand words, especially for those of you who know Ray (AKA: My Norwegian Wood) ... No over the river and through the woods on this one... Grandpa Bill lives in a super hip, super sophisticated "Adult Living Community" - definitely not an "old folks home". In fact, the term "old" would never be appropriate when describing Grandpa Bill. He decided to tell us all about "blogging" and how we should start doing it. I didn't even know what in the heck a "blog" was, though I have friends (thanks Steve and Christine!) who have one and in fact are quite good at keeping theirs updated. Blogging, for me, seemed way too high tech, especially if Grandpa Bill knew about it. I remember in the mid 90's him asking for my "email address" - what the heck??? Like I said, he knows his stuff. So, in the spirit of continuous development, I attempt my first blog. Here's to you Grandpa Bill, this one's for you!

So, I guess you can teach an old girl new tricks, especially if you've got yourself a Grandpa Bill.
